Ljubojno village is located in the southern part of the Municipality of Resen, about 2 km east of the Prespa Lake, at an altitude of 920 meters, nestled in the bosom of the Baba mountain Baba.
This is typically mountainous and immigrant workers’ village of compact type composed of several rural neighborhoods.
Throughout the area of the village Ljubojno, runs Brajchinska river, pitcher, fast and clear, where at the age of the Ilinden Uprising worked 16 mills.
Ljubojno is bordered on the north by village Shtrbovo, and Brajcino from the east, from south with Dolno Dupeni and from west with village Nakolec.
According to one legend, the name of the village originates from the first settled woman owner of a bar (meana) called Ljuba (Love) which have served very nice wine.
When customers entered in the bar, they had loudly ordered “Ljuba, wine”.
Another version about the name, tells the story that Ljubojno got its name from the word “love”.
Long time ago, fell in love boy and girl from the neighboring settlements, but because the bad neighborly relations of the inhabitants of the settlements, youth were not allowed to be together.
However, they decided to marry and escape. They have moved near the river and left to live there happily. Later, near the site moved also other families and, therefore the place today is called Ljubojno.
Ljubojno is a village of compact type with about 350 houses, built closely or connected and properly positioned on both sides of the narrow streets.
Houses built between the two world wars to grace well formed fine stone facade of colorful hanging spacious balconies. Yards are surrounded by Gate and wide gates.
